IDC LAUNCHES NEW GENERATION OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY
Company Continues to Lead in Technical Innovation and Customer Satisfaction
Calgary, Alberta – September 5th, 2007 – IDC (Imaging Dynamics Company, Ltd.) (TSX: IDL) has announced the launch of a new line of direct digital imaging (DR) CCD based technology at the recent American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) conference held in Orlando, Florida.
The new IDC X-Series imaging detectors: X3G, X3C, and X4C represent digital alternatives to each level of healthcare that IDC currently serves, from the largest medical hospitals in the world through to small clinics, outpatient centers, and customers in developing countries or markets where funding is often limited. The new X-Series also serves the Orthopaedic, Chiropractic, Veterinary and mobile imaging markets as they move away from traditional film-based X-ray.
“This product series is significant to the Company and to the industry. It combines 15 years of technical research at IDC with the absolute latest in CCD and imaging components. It delivers a new level of image quality and value to customers making the transition to digital X-ray,” says Darryl Stein, president and CEO, IDC. “We were recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan for the ‘Technology Innovation of the Year’ award for 2007, based on our existing DR technology platform. The X-Series takes our value proposition of low dose, high image quality and product affordability to a whole new level. ”
“This represents a collaboration with a number of leading research and technology partners from around the world. The advancements we have made to our core imaging technology are a major step forward for IDC, and the science of digital imaging,” states Mr. Robin Winsor, IDC chief technical officer and inventor. “Advancements in CCD imaging technology today is evident in all industries, from aerospace and satellite imaging to high resolution photography. This new sensor technology provides higher sensitivity, amplified dynamic range, anti-blooming and lower noise, achieving a significant increase in imaging performance.”
Market Response
The new X-Series has been shipped and installed across the United States, Canada, China, Korea and most recently into Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela.
“We have twelve highly qualified Radiologists who require fast and accurate images. They are very impressed with the superior image quality and enhanced workflow our new IDC 1600 with X-Series imaging provides,” states James Mooney, Administrator, SRPC Medical Imaging; a division of Schenectady Radiologists, PC in Schenectady, NY. He continues,” In addition to providing general digital X-ray services to the community, we provide imaging services to an adjoining orthopaedic facility at Guilderland Medical Imaging. The diverse imaging requirements and increased workflow expectations have been exceeded with IDC's technology. SRPC Medical Imaging has recently purchased an additional IDC X-Series system with the new X3C technology for Balltown/Niskayuna Medical Imaging, a state-of-the-art outpatient imaging center located in Niskayuna, NY.”
Dr. Brad Halkier, a practicing radiologist in both the public and private sector in British Columbia, Canada shared his experience with the investment in his facilities second IDC DR system, "Our private practice went filmless a couple of years ago as it is important to stay at the forefront of new technology and software. Our most recent installation of the IDC X1600 Plus, with the new X4C imaging detector and software has improved image quality and decreased patient dose. Additionally, we are getting absolutely zero saturation artifacts. These are impressive and critical factors that impact both our practice and patients."
Monica Esguerra Espinosa, MD - Scientific Director, Instituto de Diagnostico Medico (IDIME) of Bogota, Colombia states, “In our country 58% of imaging diagnostic exams belong to radiologic studies. We have now replaced all of our existing (CR) technology and acquired ten DR systems from the Canadian company IDC.” Espinosa continues, “After extensive research we chose their X-Series X3C CCD technology. It provides the highest spatial resolution and image quality; and was much more cost-effective when compared to CR and other DR equipment. It has been very positively received by our radiology team.”
IDC was recently recognized by MD Buyline for Customer Satisfaction (Q2, 2007). Michelle Naismith, Marketing Manager, IDC comments, “We scored exceptionally well on six key measures, including achieving top scores for customer satisfaction. IDC’s innovation and commitment to providing a consistently high level of healthcare technology continues to make a visible difference in this competitive market.”
To date, IDC has shipped and installed over 200 of the new X-Series imaging detectors worldwide.
